the tea set
Of all the people in the world who would like to inherit a tea set.. I can think of only 2. My sister Tracy, and her clone - Auntie Margaret! If it were up to them, their lives would be set in some Jane Austin movie and they would wear pretty dresses, get to town by horse & buggy and wear bonnets. To hang laundry on a line, work at a school house, etc, etc.. you get the picture.
((Side bar.. sister's married name is Austin.. co-incidence?? I THINK NOT~))
But au' contraire (sp?), people that ACTUALLY inherit a tea set.. the hippy dippy sister, the abstract, the rebel without a cause (cause really, who needs one?), the renegade... yes me, I, I have inherited the Royal Albert tea set from Oma.
Now with all my cynicism, you might think that I don't appreciate this - it's not true. I think it's lovely and full of heritage and looks great in my china cabinet. (Which is again another anomalie - how did I get a china cabinet prior to Sister Jane? Maybe all of these events symbolize one thing... am I growing up? Or do I secretly want to wear a bustle? Hmm.)
It is beautiful, and my girls love to have tea in it... so I thought it would only be fair to share it with you all.. so that you can enjoy them too! So thanks to Oma, the girls and I really do enjoy it, and can't wait to have "high tea" with you this summer.

"Posh" Millie
Well Millie, who is a avid HATER of the spray/brush system, finally said... "That's it - I want a haircut!"
So here she is post hair cut.. looking very POSH SPICE LIKE.. she loves it! She thinks it's pretty cool cause it's short but still long enough on the sides to have Fraggle Rock pony tales.. I am sure I can get a shot of that for you too!

My best Bud..
Just came back from Kamloops and it was so fantastic to see Sherie - her and I have been friends since we were just toddlers. It is always good to see her and our kids love to play together. Sherie is just the same as she ever was!! Stylish, funny, carefree & just fun to be around. Thanks for the good time Sher!

Back to work.. back to life
Well.. it's been 6-ish weeks since I had my surgery done. It went by fast & slow at times. It was certainly harder to have so much sedentary time without Collin around to visit with. You don't really appreciate the adult conversation and interactions at work until you are away from them.
Collin is coming home soon. (10 more sleeps!!!!) We are all very excited to have him come back. The girls just adore Collin and have had aching hearts since he has been away -- and of course, my heart yearns to have my hubby back. And OREO too.. I still find her cuddled up on Collin's side of the bed sometimes when I get home from work!
I hope all is well with you all out there..

Surgery went very well
Let's see - I had my hyster on the 22 of Jan and it went brilliantly! I had a bit of a hiccup a few hours after surgery - I started to bleed really badly (they actually asked me "how do you feel about blood transfusions?" YIKES - was my first thought and luckily it did not come to that. That only lasted an hour or two and then I was back in business. I went on off the "good" drugs that night and on to T3's. So all in all I have had very little pain and I feel fantastic.
I woke up one morning thinking... "Uugh, I am going to get my period today.. bleck" then.. (AND YES I AM RUBBING THIS IN!!) I realized.. "Oh that's right.. I'm not.. and I never will again --- HALLELUIAH... "
Anyhow.. Collin is still at school and having a good-ish time. He is bored with nothing to fix or shovel or plow or .. etc. But he is doing great in his class.. his first test yeilded a fantastic 87% (WHOOHOO) He is a start student with nothing to do but study!! We are proud of him.. the girls of course miss him to bits!

Getting my HYSTER & my hubby is leavin'
Just got the call yesterday from the OR booking office -- My hysterectomy is scheduled for this coming Tuesday! Nothing like 5 days notice!
So I am in panick mode (well not really panic) more like organization mode - I have 1,000,000 things to do to organize the kids and Collin.
Collin also leaves for school in 2 weeks so... it will just be us girlies. I think he is actually getting a bit excited, must be strange for him to be away for 6 weeks. He had commented the other day that he is looking forward to guilt free "wieners & beans"!
I will update as soon as I am back in business after my surgery, etc!

The Grey Cup - Magnus Style
We were so lucky to have Collin's Aunt and Uncle drop by yesterday. They live in Kitimat, BC and were in PG doing x-mas shopping, so decided to come and watch the game with us. It was so great to see them. The kids of course were stuck like glue to Auntie Joyce and had a fantastic time.

f*^%ing Renovations.....
This is how I feel today.. I am so frustrated with renos. I know I am supposed to be nicey nice and smile everytime I get a bill from a contractor that is 3,4,500 dollars more than what I was quoted, I know I am supposed to jump for joy everytime things are set back by 2/3 weeks by each step.. this I know.. BUT.. to find out that the DOOR that was supposed to be "worst case scenario" showing up Oct. 24.. to find out this afternoon that low and behold - the company that Collin frickin works for.. yes them... OH.. they forgot to order it. Yeah,
yeah people, that's right.. FOR-GOT to OR-DER.
So it will be another 6 weeks.. my ass. What a load of crap.. and to top it all off.. Collin works there so I can't just go in and give his boss my $2.25 cents worth. I can't looooooose it and freak out that it will be -30 when my door shows up and that my heat bill will be horendous, and that I can't use my pretty new addition... GRRRRRR. I just get to say (ONCE AGAIN) Oh... that's ok...
I don't mind.. I love icicles in the middle of my new rec room... GRRRR. *sigh*

A few pictures..
Last night my sister and I (and the kids) went for a short but sweet "Fall Leaves" walk. It was fun - we had good intention to go watch all the migrating geese on a pond nearby but when we got there.. they had all gone away for the night. So we walked down another path.. it was so pretty (though these pictures don't do it justice) until we saw a big pile of bear poop.. and we turned around and scooted right back to the open field. I don't really want to be a bears last snack before winter!

Visit from the Hague Sr.'s
The girls just love to visit with Grama Gel and Papa Ken - we don't see them all that often so the times that we do are very special.
We mostly just stuck around home - Collin and Ken worked on some more house projects and the woodpile, and us girls just visited. It was nice... and we got some great photos~
And Oaksana took this FANTASTIC picture of Gisele...

Oma & Opa
My grandparents (on my dad's side) are up for a visit. They moved to Abbotsford quite a while ago and since then - my girls have been so sad without them here to visit on a moment's notice. So we asked them to come stay with us. This is them yesterday heading out on a walk with Oma & Opa. They had a blast. They are loving having them here.
