Stuff

WOW it's been a while since I posted... hmm, what has happened since then?

Oaksana turned 9 // I turned 32 (yikes) // my dad turned 50something (I never keep track), Oreo got a mysterious injury so she's a bit scratched up and favoring her hind leg. Work has been work, for both hubby and me. Oaksana is in Basketball camp (which she is loving) and things are winding down for Sparks & Brownies.

Our weather has been not so spring-like with the exception of the last few days, so bring it on spring/summer -- we are ready for you.

Collin's parents and our 2 nieces and 1 nephew are set to arrive tonight to stay for 4 days. The girls are SOOOO excited to see their cousins and grandparents.. it's been tough getting them motivated to get to sleep this week as they are just bursting with anticipation! Should be a fun weekend for all of us.

The girls had a friend stop by last night and were so excited to see his big JEEP.. (as per the picture).. talk to y'all soon.

the tea set

Of all the people in the world who would like to inherit a tea set.. I can think of only 2. My sister Tracy, and her clone - Auntie Margaret! If it were up to them, their lives would be set in some Jane Austin movie and they would wear pretty dresses, get to town by horse & buggy and wear bonnets. To hang laundry on a line, work at a school house, etc, etc.. you get the picture.
((Side bar.. sister's married name is Austin.. co-incidence?? I THINK NOT~))

But au' contraire (sp?), people that ACTUALLY inherit a tea set.. the hippy dippy sister, the abstract, the rebel without a cause (cause really, who needs one?), the renegade... yes me, I, I have inherited the Royal Albert tea set from Oma.

Now with all my cynicism, you might think that I don't appreciate this - it's not true. I think it's lovely and full of heritage and looks great in my china cabinet. (Which is again another anomalie - how did I get a china cabinet prior to Sister Jane? Maybe all of these events symbolize one thing... am I growing up? Or do I secretly want to wear a bustle? Hmm.)

It is beautiful, and my girls love to have tea in it... so I thought it would only be fair to share it with you all.. so that you can enjoy them too! So thanks to Oma, the girls and I really do enjoy it, and can't wait to have "high tea" with you this summer.
